Stillness: One Of The Doors Into The Temple

$60.00

This limited edition Giclee print features a bright magenta metal lawn chair set in a grassy desert field under an expansion of wide open western skies.

The pink chair sits off center to the left. The highlights on the metal arms give the impression of bright sunlight shining down from above. A long shadow extends out to the right from behind the chair creating a striped pattern in the dry yellow desert grass. The clouds are wispy and full of movement, they converge in an angular pattern directly above the stillness of the chair. The convergence of stillness, movement, and bright light gives a centering effect to this piece that balances the tension between movement and stillness.

The under painting of bright pink radiates through the sky and the ground giving this print a warm glow.

This title for the original painting of this print was inspired by a Mary Oliver Poem titled “Today”

Today I’m flying low and I’m
not saying a word
I’m letting all the voodoos of ambition sleep.

The world goes on as it must,
the bees in the garden rumbling a little,
the fish leaping, the gnats getting eaten.
And so forth.

But I’m taking the day off.
Quiet as a feather.
I hardly move though really I’m traveling
a terrific distance.

Stillness. One of the doors
into the temple.

It can be hard to find moments of stillness in our ever moving, ever changing, and often, lets face it, totally over stimulating world. But stillness in oneself is always available to us if we are open to it. And self centering stillness is holy ground for truly sacred work.

I hope this piece inspires a stillness and peacefulness in you :)

This is a limited edition Giclee print by artist Emily Bharatiya. It is unmatted and unframed.
