your questions, answered

  • They are the ultimate surrogates for the human experience. They suggest a presence even in their absence. Plus, in the grand absurdity of life, we all just need a place to sit and process the layers.

  •  Many of my original acrylic paintings are framed, yes and it is clearly noted in the piece description. I typically like to keep things simple with minimal wooden float frames that are made locally here in Albuquerque. If you prefer to keep things even simpler and prefer no frame, or want to frame it yourself expressing your own style, I can remove the frame for you, just send me a message or email. My limited edition Giclee prints will arrive to you unframed. They come in standard sizes to make it easy for you to stand in the aisle of your local frame shop overwhelmed with choices. I find that choosing a frame is a personal part of the "architecture"—it’s how you decide to box in the big feelings. If you need a recommendation on what looks best with layered acrylics, or for one of your prints just ask.

  • Very carefully. Originals and prints are tucked into archival-safe packaging to ensure the light stays vibrant and the corners stay sharp. You’ll get a tracking number so you can watch your piece travel through the void until it hits your doorstep.

  • I’m based in Albuquerque and mostly work out of my home studio (between the beautiful chaos of three kids). While I don't have a public gallery space, I do occasional local pop-ups, and do show my work in town. If you’re a local and want to see a specific original before committing, drop me a line and we can make a plan. To follow my exhibition schedule and to get real time updates on pop-ups and other events follow me on Instagram. @em.arthouse

  •  I want you to love the view. If a piece arrives and it doesn't resonate the way you hoped, let me know within 7 days. Because these are "big feelings" (and physical objects), return shipping is on you, but I’ll make sure the process is as painless as possible. Note: Custom commissions are final once they’ve been mapped out and painted.

  • My background is in Art History and Education, so I’m always open to talking shop, podcasts, or community projects. If it involves mapping the geometry of the soul or finding beauty in the stillness, I’m probably interested.

  • Fill out the form above as best you can to get the conversation going. Once we have discussed the details, I will send over a rough sketch and a color palette. When you are ready to put your trust in me, I will get to work. I’ll send you a couple of progress updates along the way, or if you prefer to throw caution to the wind I will keep the great secrets of life to myself until you are ready for them to be revealed to you.

  • Generally, the journey from "vision" to "varnish" takes about 6–10 weeks. Art, much like personal growth, cannot be rushed—but I’ll keep you updated with progress photos so you aren't left sitting in the dark.If you have a specific date in mind (like a birthday or an anniversary), let me know early and I’ll see if I can save you a seat on the schedule.

  • You don't need a formal brief. A photo of a space that moves you, a description of a "big feeling," or even just a favorite color palette is enough to get us started. If there's a specific chair or object, animal, or person that holds a story for you, I’d love to see it. Please upload any inspirational reference photos via the link above.

  • Can you really put a price on invaluable customized art? Yes. Yes, you can. Pricing depends on the size and materials of your unique piece. Framing also plays a large role in the final cost. Here is a breakdown so you can have a fun time doing some basic mathematics.

Works on Paper = $1.50 per square inch

Works On Canvas = $3.00 per square inch

Works on Canvas and Framed = $4.00 per square inch

Works on Wood Panel = $4.00 per square inch

Works on Wood Panel and Framed = $5.00 per square inch

Once we have our initial chat, I’ll give you a clear quote so there are no surprises that make you question reality. I ask for a 50% deposit to get the brushes moving.

  • Absolutely. See the above price list and choose what's best for you.

  • Yes! They say "wherever you go, there you are” and your art should be there with you. Whether you’re across the street or across an ocean, I’ll make sure your painting is packed with enough care to survive the journey. Shipping costs are calculated once we nail down the size of your painting, but the emotional resonance is free. Are you a neighbor? If you’re here in Albuquerque, we can skip the shipping box and the absurdity of tracking numbers. I’m happy to coordinate a studio pickup or a hand-off—just let me know you're local when you reach out.
